Angela | Forgiven and Free

My name is Angela.

My daughter, Aurelia, is the photographer and writer for The Grace Mask.

My parents have faithfully taught me God’s Word and displayed the love of Jesus from the beginning. Without question I have an amazing mom and dad and thankfully they are still with me,I have breakfast and coffee each day with them and I still benefit from their Godly advice and counsel.

As a child, the church was my life. We have always been faithfully involved in God’s work. Every memory I have as a child revolved around the church and the people we served with each weekend were our closest friends during the weekdays.

I gave my heart to Jesus when I was 7 years old. It was on a Sunday night in June of 1964, at Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I realized I needed to be saved. So I reached up and tapped my mom and told her,”I’ve got to be saved.” What I remember after that is like a series of pictures, I don’t remember very much, it’s as though I see still photographs of that moment, but the Lord took care of me that night, He knew my little heart. He is still taking care of me to this very day.

To me, being the Bride of Christ is amazing. His grace is purely amazing, knowing that I am secure in Him is what the abundant life is all about.  My debt of sin is paid for, all of it. He didn’t free me to do anything I want, but He freed me from the dreadful weight of needing to be perfect. I still make mistakes, but through His grace and love I am forgiven and free to try again every morning. I am thankful that my family brought me up to know Jesus. I often think, if not for that, what might my life have been?

My anchor verses:

John 6:35 Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But you haven’t believed in me even though you have seen me. 37 However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.38 For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. 39 And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.40 For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”

Philippians 4:12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
