“Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.” 1 Peter 4:6 MSG
Inner beauty is cultivated! The first word of this verse is key! Don’t miss it! When you meet a girl who is what we call “beautiful inside” know this, God is at work in her heart because she engages with Him on a daily basis. A gentle spirit is not something we work at. A gentle spirit is a result of loving God with ALL YOUR HEART and submitting to His Grace at work in us. This week as you consider Laura’s words in your journal let us rest in Jesus’ last words on the cross: “It is finished”. The hard work of overcoming sin was done by Jesus SO THAT we have access and can engage with Him daily through the disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study. May these “disciplines” become a part of who you are, Dear Bride, as you delight in God’s love for you this week. Keep your eyes on The Groom!
Questions to discuss:
- What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “beautiful inside”?
- What comes to mind when you consider God’s delight?
- Read James 4:8. Have you drawn near to God today? How will you draw near to Him this week?
