The Armor of God: Cori

Hello Sisters! My name is Cori Presley and I am the contributing writer for “The Dress: Armor of God” for the Fall Intro issue of The Grace Mask Journal. I am married to Paul and together we have 9 kids and 1 grandbaby.

Made Whole:

I have always dreamed of having a large family. I just didn’t dream of the journey that would get me there. I was widowed in 2008, while pregnant with my fifth baby. God proved himself faithful throughout my crazy journey. My parents moved to Morrisville to help. Six weeks after I lost my husband, Scott, my younger brother moved in with my kids and I. It was just after that, we had found out he had cancer. His battle began a family battle. It took all of us to take care of him. Though the journey may have been a bumpy one, I can’t express the amount of laughter and joy that filled our home. In 2011 God blessed my family with a new husband and a new daddy. Paul has greatly blessed us all. He has kept Scott’s love alive for my kids and has provided them with unconditional love. Our blended journey brought two broken families together. We are now a family of 11 and 1 grandbaby. I am so thankful for God’s love and provision. In December of 2017 my brother lost his battle with cancer. Eight years of suffering ended with him dancing in the arms of Jesus. It’s a story that may sound sad to many. However, as a follower of Christ it’s a story that will end with seeing each other again. This is not our home! HEAVEN IS!
In June of this year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. I have the BRCA2 gene. Which is the hereditary gene for cancer. It’s a battle I didn’t see coming. However, it’s a battle that God is leading me through.

His Words Evoking Beauty:

This journey has changed my view from being about my beauty, to God’s beauty in and through me. He has promised me that he would never leave me or forsake me. He is teaching me to have fearless faith in Him. That is only accomplished with time spent with Him. His church is now a source of support and love on a long a journey that we are all on.

Bring Out the Best:

Church is a time spent with Jesus. And a time for renewing. It’s a time to pray and be prayed for. It is the visible hands and feet of Jesus. This life is a journey that is leading us all to Jesus! And in turn a longing for heaven. Perfection, wholeness, and completeness in Jesus are coming as we enter heaven. I’m believing God for HUGE VICTORIES as he uses my journey for his glory.
